Churches plan Good Friday services online

A number of Hancock County churches have scheduled virtual services in observance of Good Friday. Here is a list, along with links you can use to participate.

Fortville United Methodist Church has a Holy Thursday meditation posted online at www.ffumc-in.org/this-week-s-activities.shtml

Harvest Church in Mt. Comfort will have a Maundy Thursday devotional posted to its Facebook page by 10 a.m. Thursday.

St. James Lutheran Church will stream a Maundy Thursday service at 6:30 p.m. Thursday on YouTube. Visit stjamesnalc.org.

Fortville Nazarene Church will have children’s Holy Week worship streaming on the church’s Facebook page at 11 a.m. Friday. Pastoral staff will lead a live service at 2 p.m. Friday.

St. James Lutheran Church will stream a Good Friday service at 3 p.m. Friday on YouTube. Visit stjamesnalc.org.

Realife Church will be holding a drive-through Good Friday experience Friday, April 10.
The church will offer a re-enactment of Biblical events taking place from Good Friday through Easter Sunday in the parking lot of Legacy Cinema in Greenfield. The participants will observe proper social distancing practices, and viewers can watch from inside their cars. The event will take place from 4 to 6 p.m.

Brown’s Chapel Wesleyan Church will have drive-thru Good Friday Communion at 5:30 p.m. Friday. “Please be in the church’s parking lot by 5:30 p.m.,” the church posted on Facebook. “Remain in your cars and listen to the pastoral greeting, announcements, Scripture, prayers, and instructions via your car’s FM radio (tune your radio to 87.5 FM).” Motorists will then drive through underpass to receive the Communion elements, return to their parking spaces and receive them together at the prompt as instructed over radio. “We have ordered prepackaged, all-in-one Communion pieces … Each individual cup and piece of bread is factory-sealed and will be unwrapped by you before partaking.  We will also be holding the Communion trays with disposable gloves,” the church posted.

Eden United Methodist Church will stream a Good Friday service live at 7 p.m. Friday on the church’s Facebook page.

Bradley United Methodist Church plans to stream a Good Friday Tenebrace service at 8:30 p.m. Friday on the church’s Facebook page. Organizers suggest watching the service in the dark.
