The Hancock County Health Department inspects restaurants four times annually and violations are determined as “C” for critical, “NC” for noncritical and “R” for repeated violations. The following inspections are based on information obtained from Retail Food Inspection Reports.

Aug. 27

Libby’s Ice Cream and Gifts

Location: 11 S. Main St., Fortville

Type of Inspection: Routine

No violations found.

Pizza King

Location: 215 W. Broadway St., Fortville

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C – need to have employee health policy and reviewed throughout year with staff, corrected/sample given; C/R2 – no date-marking on pre-portioned sub sandwich lunch meat, corrected/discarded; C/R3 – expired diced chicken, in-house made ranch dressing cannot exceed seven days, corrected/discarded; NC/R2 – test strips for sanitizing solution must be used to confirm correct concentration, corrected; NC/R2 – sweep cooler floor, coving/track next to oven to remove debris, clean walk-in/reach-in to remove debris, to be corrected by Oct. 1.

Mozzi’s

Location: 23 S. Main St., Fortville

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC – need thin-tipped thermometer for thin meats, wings, to be corrected by Oct. 1; sanitizing test strips need to be available at all times, to be corrected by Sept. 10; NC/R4 – gap at exterior back door, to be corrected by Oct. 1; NC/R5 – continue to repair/replace tiles that are cracked/broken (cited since 1/30/18), to be corrected by Oct. 1.

Marathon

Location: 1313 N. State St., Greenfield

Violations found: NC/R3 – ice scoop needs to be stored on clean surface or in a holder, to be corrected by Oct. 1; NC – need to provide test strips for testing sanitizer concentration, to be corrected by Oct. 1.

Mama Nita’s Pizza

Location: 1506½ N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC – clean floors/wall junctures to remove debris/build-up/grime, clean refrigeration door handles and doors to remove debris/build-up, clean sides of storage unit, to be corrected by Oct. 1.

Snapper’s Bar and Grill

Location: 1514 N. State St., Greenfield
