GREENFIELD — Hannah Farrell was hopeful that she could get her college commitment done and out of the way before her senior season began at Greenfield-Central.

Just days into her senior year, she did just that. After a successful summer on the AAU circuit with the Indy Magic, Farrell announced her college choice on Sunday, choosing to attend Bellarmine University in Louisville to continue her basketball career.

“Bellarmine was the right fit for me because it is close to home, has great coaches and staff, the campus is beautiful and it feels like home,” Farrell said.

The reigning Hancock County Girls Basketball Player of the Year picked up several offers during the summer and chose the Knights, currently a Division 2 team that will be transitioning to D1 in the summer of 2020.

Bellarmine will move into the Atlantic Sun Conference, which will become a 10-team conference with the addition of the Knights.

With her college plans decided, Farrell can focus on her goal of a sectional championship in her final season at Greenfield-Central. She averaged 19.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 3.4 steals per game as a junior, and looks to help lead the Cougars back above .500 after a 10-14 season.

“It is very relieving to decide before basketball season so I can focus on basketball and my academics,” Farrell said. “I think it is going to help me enjoy my senior year.”
