GREENFIELD — A fundraising event where thousands will be taking part across the world to fight the darkness of Alzheimer’s on the summer solstice, the day with the most day light, June 21, is being spearheaded locally by Rick York.

The event is called The Longest Day. Worldwide, 50 million people are living with Alzheimer’s, including over 5 million Americans, and 16 million Americans provide unpaid care to individuals with Alzheimer’s and other types of dementia.

On The Longest Day, York will host a scotch doubles bowling tournament to raise funds and awareness for the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association. His goal is to raise over $5,000.

Anyone wishing to support his efforts can do so by making a tax-deductible donation of $50 to sponsor one of 32 lanes at Strike Force Lanes in Greenfield. Anyone sponsoring York can have their business name and address along with the phone number on a lane. He is also looking for donations for a silent auction during the tournament. Any questions, please contact York at 317-412-2396 or [email protected]
