Pet grief panel to speak at hospital

GREENFIELD — A free panel discussion on pet grief will be 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 4 in the Robert C. Keen Classroom in the lower level of Hancock Regional Hospital, 801 N. State St., Greenfield.

Attendees will learn more about how pets grieve, how people can support them and each other and how people can healthily grieve their own pet losses.

Panel speakers include:

Dr. Christal Morita-Keating, a veterinarian and owner of The Vet

Claudia Alerding, who has raised 14 puppies as service dogs for Canine Champions for Independence

Mary Gibble, who will share how her family has coped with the loss of a pet dog and how he coped with the loss of his previous owner.

Katherine Murray, chaplain and bereavement coordinator at Hancock Regional Hospice as well as an animal lover, will facilitate the panel discussion. For questions, contact her at 317-468-4124.
