As I drive home on the recently chip-sealed Hancock County road, I cannot help to think that we have our priorities misaligned. The new jail has a proposed budget of about $43 million (watch this number grow in the next two years!) after being voted down in the referendum, while Hancock County roads are not being properly paved. The solution? Raise every homeowner’s taxes, of course. And don’t even get me started about trying to navigate chip-sealed roads on a motorcycle.
