Voter organization plans Greenfield, Fortville candidate forums

HANCOCK COUNTY — Next week, voters can hear from some of the local candidates running in the spring primary election.

The League of Women Voters Hancock County will be host to 90-minute candidate forums in Greenfield and Fortville. The two Hancock County municipalities each have two contested Republican primary races.

Greenfield’s forum is set for 7 p.m. Monday, April 22, in the Hancock County Courthouse Annex, 111 American Legion Place. The GOP primary ballot includes a three-way race among council incumbents for two at-large spots on the Greenfield City Council and two first-time council candidates vying for District 2 The candidates are:

District 2: John Jester and Thomas Lopez

-At-Large: Mitch Pendlum, Dan Riley and Joe Skvarenina

The forum in Fortville will start at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, in Fortville Town Hall, 714 E. Broadway. Three Republicans are contending for two District 1 spots on the council, while two are running for District 2:

District 1: Tonya Drake Davis, Michael Frischkorn, Libby Wyatt

District 2: Becky Davis, Tim Hexamer

In addition, two GOP candidates — Greg Brewer and Bryan Burney — are vying for the District 2 seat on the McCordsville Town Council. No forum is planned as of yet for the McCordsville race.

The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan political organization that promotes active and informed citizen participation in the political process.
