PLAINFIELD — Two Hancock County divers competed in Tuesday night’s diving regional at Plainfield, looking to punch their ticket to Saturday’s state finals.

One did. One just missed.

New Palestine’s Colin Stacey, who won last week’s sectional with a 464.40, finished second on Tuesday, his 446.25 score good enough to advance to Saturday’s state finals.

Greenfield-Central freshman Kien Dalton, who finished fourth in the sectional with a 315.20, just missed the state cut with a ninth-place finish and a score of 294.45.

Stacey will be the sole Dragons representative at state, joining a contingent of county swimmers this weekend at the IUPUI Natatorium.

Greenfield-Central will be represented by Travis Black in the 50 and 100 yard freestyle, Samuel Jennings in the 200 and 500 free, Samuel Logan in the 100 yard butterfly and 100 yard backstroke, and the 400 yard freestyle relay and 200 yard medley relay teams.

Mt. Vernon swimmers competing are Aiden Tierney in the 100 yard breastroke and 200 IM, Jason Hamilton in the 200 IM, and the Marauders’ 200 yard freestyle relay team.

Swimming preliminaries will begin at 6 p.m. Friday. Diving preliminaries and semifinals start at 9 a.m. Saturday, and consolations and finals for swimming all events will begin at 1 p.m. that afternoon.
