Health Inspections

The Hancock County Health Department inspects restaurants four times annually and violations are determined as “C” for critical, “NC” for noncritical and “R” for repeated violations. The following inspections are based on information obtained from Retail Food Inspection Reports.

Dec. 12

Round the Corner Grill

Location: 19 S. Bittner Road, New Palestine

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC/R — repair coving by mop sink, to be corrected by April 1; C — sanitizer too strong, corrected; NC/R — clean floors under pizza oven, fryers, equipment on food line and refrigeration unit by back door, to be corrected by March 1; NC — obtain thin-tipped food thermometer, need to clean handles of refrigeration units, pizza prep refrigeration unit doors, top shelf of food line and legs of equipment where grease/grime is present, repair/replace broken or missing tiles in kitchen, repair ceiling where crack has developed, to be corrected by March 1; C — sliver has food debris, to be corrected by Dec. 13.

Speedway

Location: 335 Broadway St., Fortville

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC/R — repair coving by mop sink, to be corrected by April 1; C — sanitizer too strong, corrected.

Tim’s Bakery

Location: P.O. Box 1, McCordsville

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC/R3 — repair caulking at three-compartment sink, repair wall and coving behind three-compartment sink, repair plumbing leak at sink drain and faucet, repair/replace grout at three-compartment sink, clean racks for storing equipment/dough cutters/trays, clean outside of containers and dollies/lids, to be corrected by Feb. 1.

Subway

Location: 5945 W. Broadway, McCordsville

Los Agaves Grill

Location: 5965 W. Broadway, McCordsville

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C/R3 — unmarked chemical spray bottle, corrected; NC — dish machine water temperature is 110 degrees, must be at least 120 degrees, to be corrected by Feb. 1; NC — repair coving and wall by prep table/three-compartment sink, clean floor of mop area to remove debris, hang mops, clean doors and handles of upright coolers, to be corrected by March 1.

Chicago’s Pizza

Location: 5917 W. Broadway, McCordsville

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C/R3 — date mark missing on chicken in pre-portioned, corrected; C — pre-portioned lunch meats, in-house made blue cheese dressing have exceeded date mark, corrected; C — ice machine must be cleaned as often as necessary to protect ice, to be corrected by Dec. 13; NC/R3 — in-use utensils must be stored in a protected manner not between cutting board and cooler lit, corrected; NC — protect silverware and paper plates from contamination, to be corrected by Dec. 13; NC — dish machine is at 98 degrees, water should be 120 degrees, to be corrected by Feb. 1; NC — hand sink by dish machine had dirty dishes in it, cannot block hand sink, corrected; NC/R5 — excessive debris present, cleaning needed: floors, racks, storage containers, legs, shelves, tracks of coolers, floor of walk-in cooler, doors/handles, behind and under tables, to be corrected by Jan. 15.

Kinsey’s Italian Cafe

Location: 6383 Broadway, McCordsville

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C/R2 — quat dispenser is not dispensing at correct concentration, corrected; NC/R2 — clean storage rack, inside of cooler and shelving to remove debris, clean microwave doo and handles, to be corrected by March 1.

Dairy Queen

Location: 346 W. Broadway St., Fortville

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC/R — clean drains to remove debris, clean behind the grill, fryer and under hot holding unit near drive-thru, repair/replace tiles in kitchen where they are broken/missing/cracked, to be corrected by April 1.
