Greenfield-Central falls in OT

Shelbyville and Greenfield-Central battled back and forth on Tuesday in a Hoosier Heritage Conference game, with the host Golden Bears escaping with a 57-55 victory in overtime.

The hosts led by five after the first quarter and going into the half, but the Cougars stormed back with a 16-4 run to take a seven-point lead heading into the fourth quarter.

Shelbyville edged out the Cougars in a back-and-forth overtime quarter for the win.

Swimming

Dragons fall in dual meet

The New Palestine swim teams fell in a dual meet Tuesday at Pendleton Heights.

The Dragon boys fell 99-86. The girls dropped a 131-52 decision. They face county rival Greenfield-Central on Monday.

Cougars swim past Marauders

Greenfield-Central took to the road to face county rival Mt. Vernon on Tuesday, with the Cougars boys and girls both picking up wins.

The boys got past the Marauders by a score of 102-78. The girls beat Mt. Vernon 123-63.

Wrestling

Cougars fall to Cathedral

Greenfield-Central took on the state’s No. 1 team, Cathedral, Tuesday on the road, falling 70-0 to the hosts.

The Cougars had several close matches against top-ranked wrestlers. Gavin Rose and Cooper Noehre both came close to wins. Rose lost by decision, 8-7, at 132 pounds. Noehre lost by decision in OT at 152 pounds.
