‘Christmas Carol’ adaptation returns

INDIANAPOLIS — Burge Terrace Baptist Church presents the second annual "Adaptation of a Christmas Carol." There are three showings, all free, at 7 p.m. Friday, as well as 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Dec. 8.

"The three free showings are going to focus on themes of hope and the gospel," John Pate, one of the pastors at the church, wrote in an email to the Daily Reporter. "Last year, we had several hundred guests join us, and their feedback was overwhelmingly positive."

The church is located west of New Palestine, at 9345 Brookville Road (U.S. 52), Indianapolis.

Singer-songwriter to play Christmas concert

FORTVILLE — Fortville Church of the Nazarene plans a concert at 6 p.m. Sunday, featuring Ron Bridgewater.

The theme of the concert is “More than a Season” and will feature classic Christmas songs, new worship music and original arrangements.

Bridgewater is a pastor/singer/songwriter who grew up in Brazil, Indiana.

As a young boy he sang with his family’s group (The Bridgewater Family).He attended Cincinnati Christian University and became a preacher; during the past 25 years he has served churches in Stringtown, Kentucky and North Vernon and Columbus, Indiana.

He plays the piano and trumpet and created and collaborated on several professional recording projects.

A love offering will be received.

Handbell choirs gather to play seasonal specials

NEW PALESTINE — The 14th annual "Handbell Ring and Share" takes place at 2 p.m. Dec. 9 at Cross of Grace Lutheran Church, 3519 S. County Road 600W, New Palestine.

Organ concert features Christmas selections

KNIGHTSTOWN — Bethel Presbyterian Church will present its annual Advent Organ Concert at 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

A program of Christmas selections will be performed. On the program will be Celia Burns, Kathryn Wait, Robin Ritchie and Chris Wilson, organists; Donna Wilson, flutist; and Pat Cronk, vocalist.

A free-will offering will benefit Knightstown Food Pantry.

McCordsville bazaar is Dec. 8

McCORDSVILLE — McCordsville United Methodist Church’s Holiday Bazaar and Luncheon is set for for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 8 at the church, 6247 W. Broadway, McCordsville.

More than 30 vendor booths offer jewelry, clothing, scarves, hats, baby items, holiday decor, Avon, Mark Kay, Kelly’s Jellies, Scentsy, Paparazzi Jewelry, baked goods, woodworking, home decor and more.

Lunch is available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. A free-will offering will be accepted for the meal.

Night in Bethlehem to portray Bible times

GREENFIELD — Night in Bethlehem is back at Brandywine Community Church for the fourth year in a row.

Visitors will step back in time as they wander through the streets of Bethlehem on their way to find the baby Jesus. During their journey they’ll visit a marketplace where they can make things, buy things (the gold coins required will be provided), get their picture taken, and dodge Roman soldiers.

They’ll visit King Herod’s throne room, meet three very wisemen, chat with some shepherds, pay some taxes and join a host of angels singing.

Then they’ll find the baby, nestled there in the manger, surrounded by live animals, and Dr. Ray Easley will share the story of Jesus’ birth.

Tours begin every 15 minutes from 6 to 8 p.m. Dec. 16-18 at the church, 1551 E. New Road, Greenfield.

Series will focus on Advent themes

NEW PALESTINE — Everyone in the community is invited to attend New Palestine United Methodist Church for “God With Us,” a four-week series based on the Advent themes of Hope, Love, Joy and Peace.

The series takes place at 9:15 a.m. or 10:45 a.m. on Sunday and Dec. 9, 16 and 23. It include doughnuts and coffee, lighting of the Advent wreath, and a free God With Us devotional book for visitors.

Mt. Comfort plans Holiday Bazaar

MT. COMFORT — Mt. Comfort United Methodist Church’s seventh annual Holiday Bazaar is set for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday (Dec. 1).

More than 60 artists, craftsmen and home vendors will sell their products. Lunch and a Sweet Shop will be available. Admission is free.

Donations for the local food pantry and “Changing Footprints” (gently used shoes) will be accepted.

The church is located at 3179 N. Mt. Comfort Road (County Road 600 West), a mile north of Interstate 70.

Cookie Walk includes Santa

NEW PALESTINE — New Palestine United Methodist Women present the annual Cookie Walk from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Dec. 8 at New Palestine United Methodist Church, 3565 S. County Road 500W, New Palestine.

A variety of homemade specialties will be available for $6.50 a pound. Hot beverages, holiday crafts and gifts will also be on sale.

Santa will attend from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Bring your camera for free photos.

Money raised will support UMW missions that focus on women’s and children’s needs locally, nationally and internationally.

Walk through Bethlehem in Oaklandon

OAKLANDON — Walk Thru Bethlehem is set for 4 to 9 p.m. Saturday (Dec. 1) at Servants of Christ Lutheran Church, 7650 Oaklandon Road, Indianapolis.

This interactive celebration features 85+ characters in costume. With the exception of live sheep, this is an indoor experience.
