GREENFIELD — The Hancock County Area Plan Commission on Tuesday night gave a favorable recommendation to the Fortville Town Council to rezone land that’s slated for 250 homes.

The Northwest Fortville property, which was voluntarily annexed, includes 85 acres bounded by Ohio Street to the south, the Hamilton County line to the west, Merrill Street to the north and adjacent to town limits to the east.

The plan commission voted 6-1 in favor of the Planned Unit Development.

Republic Development of Fishers wants to construct 250 homes with prices ranging from $270,000 to $400,000. Adam Zaklikowski, planning administrator for Fortville, said the addition is meant to feel like "old town Fortville."

The Fortville Town Council will vote on the PUD rezone on Dec. 3.
