City leaf pickup might be delayed

GREENFIELD — With expected winter weather this weekend, the city’s street commissioner said leaf pick-up could get delayed as crews treat and clear roads.

Tyler Rankins, street commissioner for Greenfield, said the leaf pick-up program will most likely resume at the start of next week. Street department drivers use the same trucks for road treatment and leaf pick-up, he added.

Crews treated roads late Wednesday in anticipation of possible snow and ice, Rankins said. Snow is also in the forecast for Saturday night and Sunday.

The leaf pick-up program, which began two weeks ago, asks for Greenfield residents to rake leaves to the curbside if they want the city to retrieve them. Bagged leaves placed at the curb will be picked up the same day if you call the street department before noon, at (317) 477-4380.
