Cougars top Red Devils

Greenfield-Central picked up its third win of the year Tuesday, topping host Richmond 59-42.

Hannah Farrell had a big game for the Cougars, leading the way with 32 points, five steals and four rebounds. Addie Hill added 11 points and 10 rebounds, and Crystal Peterson and Lydia McIntire each added eight points.

Dragons down Flashes

New Palestine beat Franklin Central 58-33 Tuesday to improve to 3-0 on the season.

The Dragons had a three-point barrage in the game, hitting nine shots from beyond the arc. Haley Harrison led the way with 20 points, including four triples. 

Leah Seib hit two first-quarter 3-pointers en route to a 17-point night. Megan Jolly hit two 3-pointers and finished with six points. Jordan Reid added five points. Michaela Jones scored four, Katie Herron three, Claire Cherry two and Tatum Biddle one.

Swimming

Dragons split triple-dual

The New Palestine girls swim team split a triple-dual meet Tuesday with Lawrence Central and Shelbyville. New Palestine beat Lawrence Central 51-41, while falling to host Shelbyville 52-41.

Overall victories for the Dragons went to Maria Virt in the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle and Jessica Rogers in the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly. They were both triple-winners, as they also teamed up with Bailey Young and Maigan Williams to win the 400 free relay.

The 200 free relay of Williams, Claire Whisler, Kaylynn Crawmer and Kayleigh Wright finished second. Third-place finishes went to Young in the 200 IM, Teagan Davis in the 100 backstroke, as well as the 200 medley relay of Virt, Jordan Owens, Rogers and Young.
