Set clocks back to arrive at right time

HANCOCK COUNTY — Those headed for a house of worship on Sunday are reminded to set their clocks back one hour before going to sleep Saturday. Daylight Saving Time ends Sunday.

Craft sale set at Amity

GREENFIELD — The Ladies’ Craft Sale runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday (Nov. 3) at Amity United Methodist Church, 6042 W. County Road 100N.

Chili cookoff is Nov. 10

NEW PALESTINE — The United Methodist Men of New Palestine United Methodist Church will play host to the 11th annual Chili Cook Off and Auctions on Nov. 10. All community members are invited to attend or enter their best chili.

Contest categories are “Just Like Grandma’s, “Spiciest”, and “Most Unusual”. This year will also feature an “Open” category for those wishing to enter a soup, stew, or casserole. Prizes will be awarded to the winners, and there is no fee for entering the contest.

Again this year a Kid’s Cookie and Cupcake Bakeoff Contest will be held. All entrants should bring three dozen of their favorite cookies and/or cupcakes. A “People’s Choice” award will be given for cookie and cupcake judged the “Best Decorated” by all those who attend.

The cost of this event is $7 for adults and $3 for children 5-12. Children under 5 can eat chili for free. The admission fee will include your entrance to the auction and all the chili you can eat, and a drink. Other food items available for purchase will be hot dogs, a selection of soft drinks, and desserts.

Serving begins at 5 p.m. and will continue until 7 p.m. when the winners of the chili contests will be announced. The auctions will begin at 5 p.m. and continue until 7 p.m. For additional information, or to enter the contests, call 317-861-4390.

American Heritage Girls meet at Mt. Lebanon

GREENFIELD — American Heritage Girls, a faith-based scouting experience for girls ages 5-18, is being offered at Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church, 3447 S. State Road 9, Greenfield. It meets from 6 to 7:15 p.m. each second and fourth Thursday.

Chili supper to help families at Thanksgiving

WILKINSON — Righteous Oaks Baptist Church’s ninth annual free chili supper is set for 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday (Nov. 3) at the church, 8356 N. State Road 109.

Donations will be accepted and used to buy Thanksgiving baskets for families in need. The church is also gathering gently used winter clothing.

Turkey dinner set in Shirley

SHIRLEY — The fall turkey dinner runs from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday (Nov. 3) at Shirley-Wilkinson United Methodist Church, 309 South St., Shirley.

The menu features turkey and dressing with mashed potatoes, green beans, dessert and drink for $8.

Seminar offers help for navigating grief at holidays

GREENFIELD —A GriefShare Surviving the Holidays seminar is set for 1 to 3 p.m. Nov. 10 at St. James Lutheran Church, 1741 S. State St., Greenfield. It offers practical, actionable strategies for making it through the holiday season. Participants will view a video featuring advice from people in grief who’ve faced the holidays after their loss. They’ll hear insights from respected Christian counselors, pastors, and psychologists. They’ll receive a Holiday Survival Guide with practical strategies, encouraging words, exercises, and journaling ideas for daily survival through the holiday season.
