New Pal library celebrates 20 years of Harry Potter

NEW PALESTINE — Kids in grades 3 through 5 can enter the wizarding world of Harry Potter with a potions class from 5 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday at the Hancock County Public Library branch in New Palestine, 5087 W. Children’s Museum offers free or reduced admissions

INDIANAPOLIS — Children get in free while adults pay $5 for an evening at the Riley Children’s Health Sports Legends Experience at the Indianapolis Children’s Museum, 3000 N. Meridian St. From 5 to 8 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays through Sept. 29, families can enjoy basketball, football, hockey, soccer, pedal car racing on a drag strip and an oval course, golf, baseball and tennis. Attendees should wear close-toed shoes. Attendance is limited to up to five children per family. Everyone can get in free from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday as the museum celebrates Latino culture and independence anniversaries for Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Mexico, Chile and Belize as part of National Hispanic Heritage Month. Museum visitors can enjoy special music, art and culture including the Zelaya Mariachi Band, Bilingual Storytelling, a paper flower fiesta and Mexican metal art. Children’s orchestra seeking enrollment

HANCOCK COUNTY — The newly-formed Hearts Ablaze Children’s Orchestra is seeking new members. The orchestra is open to all instruments and for ages 8 through 18. The group meets at 6:45 p.m. Wednesdays at the Hearts Ablaze Studio, 3254 W. County Road 400 S., Greenfield. Students will need to bring an instrument and a collapsible music stand.
