Car show coming to Mt. Comfort

MT. COMFORT — The second annual Mt. Comfort United Methodist Church Car Show is set for noon to 3 p.m. Sept. 15 at the church, 3179 N. County Road 600W (Mt. Comfort Road), Greenfield.

Car owners pay entry fees to compete in the show, and hotdogs and pulled pork meals with macaroni and cheese will be available for sale, but there’s no admission charge to stop by and look at the cars. Proceeds help fund church youth programs.

A band will play a mix of music, from religious to rock ‘n’ roll songs, including Elvis Presley music.

Revival continues at Fortville Nazarene

FORTVILLE — Fortville Church of the Nazarene’s fall revival, services of spiritual renewal, continues Saturday (Sept. 8) with a service at 7 p.m.

Services on Sunday begin at 10:45 a.m. and 6 p.m.

The special speaker is Dr. J.K. Warrick. Following nearly 38 years of pastoral ministry, Warrick was elected to the Board of General Superintendents by the 26th General Assembly that took place in Indianapolis in 2005.

Warrick was a general superintendent until his retirement in 2017, at which time the 29th General Assembly conferred on him the distinction of general superintendent emeritus.

Leading worship will be Justin Wells, the worship leader at Fortville Nazarene Church. Childcare will be provided through age 3.

Touch a Truck set for Sept. 15

MT. COMFORT — The fifth annual Touch a Truck is set for 2 to 4 p.m. Sept. 15 at Harvest Church, 6107 W. Airport Blvd.

There will be many trucks from the community, such as a fire truck, Hancock County SWAT truck, ambulance, the amazing Bubble Truck and more.

This free event also features snacks, crafts and music.

Lord’s Acre Festival going on today

McCORDSVILLE — The 67th annual Lord’s Acre Festival continues from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday (Sept. 8). It concludes with worship under a festival tent at 9:30 a.m. Sunday outside the church, 6247 W. Broadway, McCordsville.

The menu features fish sandwiches for $5, with tenderloin, chicken, hot dogs and sloppy Joes also available for sale, as well as various sides and desserts. Chicken and noodles will be served starting at 11:30 a.m. today until they run out.

More than 30 vendors have booths at the festival. A silent auction is also going on.

There is no charge for the children’s bounce house or face painting.

Sale to raise money to benefit hungry

FORTVILLE — The second annual Harvest of Talents is set for 9 to 4 p.m. Saturday (Sept. 8) at Fortville Christian Church, 9450 N. County Road 200W, Fortville.

Proceeds benefit International Disaster Emergency Service’s hunger relief programs.

Shoppers will find decorative items, such as painted signs, garden rocks, Christmas ornaments and more.

Themed gift baskets will be up for bids until 1:30 p.m. in a silent auction. Larger items such as furniture will be part of a live auction at 2:30 p.m.

The day also features food: biscuits and gravy at 9 a.m., walking tacos at 10:30 a.m. and pulled pork sandwiches at 11:30 a.m.

A new church cookbook with more than 500 recipes will also be for sale. Cookbook sale proceeds will not go to the Harvest but will support the church’s work in the Dominican Republic.

AWANA to start at Greenfield church

GREENFIELD — A new year of AWANA will begin Monday at Hancock Reformed Baptist Church, 944 E. Davis Road, Greenfield.

Sessions run from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Mondays, from September through March, and include a Bible message, Scripture memorization, games and awards for each child’s achievements.

Children are encouraged to bring 50 cents a week to help pay for teaching material, and there are minimal costs for shirts or vests, but assistance is available.

Bluegrass group to perform at church

GREENFIELD — Curry’s Chapel United Methodist Church will celebrate its annual Homecoming on Sept. 23. Worship begins at 10:30 a.m., and a pitch-in dinner follows.

Bazaar looks ahead to Christmas

NEW PALESTINE — The United Methodist Women at New Palestine United Methodist Church will have their annual 94 Days Until Christmas Craft & Vendor Fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 22 at the church, 3565 S. County Road 500W (Gem Road).

Church after-school program starts Thursday

MT. COMFORT — Mt. Comfort United Methodist Church’s after-school program begins Thursday.

“SonShine Kids” meets on Thursdays when Mt. Vernon Community School Corp. is in session.

Students in kindergarten through fifth grade will be offered enrichment classes including art, nature and drama.

The afternoon includes a snack, interactive exercise and homework assistance.

Applications are available at the front offices of Mt. Comfort Elementary School and the church. The church is located at 3179 N. County Road 600W.
