GREENFIELD — A bicyclist accused of pointing a BB gun at a passing police patrol car has been charged and arrested, records show.

Frank A. Overton, 48, 5239 W. U.S. 40, Greenfield, faces one Level 5 felony count of intimidation with a deadly weapon and one Level 6 felony count of criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon.

Police say Overton, while standing with his bike on the side of U.S. 40, took out what appeared to be a silver handgun and pointed it at a fully-marked Greenfield Police Department patrol SUV as it drove past him.

The incident was reported by another driver. Overton was identified after police put a plea for information online.

Imitation firearms are legally considered a dangerous weapon.

Overton remained in the Hancock County Jail at press time.
