2 students named to University’s president’s list

GREENVILLE, SC — Two area students are among approximately 520 Bob Jones University students named to the president’s list for high academic achievement during the spring 2018 semester. Nathanael Johnson, Greenfield, is a senior Communications major. Hannah Williams, New Palestine, is a senior accounting major. To qualify for the president’s List, students must earn a 3.75 or higher grade point average for the semester. Bob Jones University provides an accredited Christian liberal arts education designed to inspire a lifelong pursuit of learning, loving and leading.

Anderson University honors Hancock County grads

ANDERSON —Two Hancock County graduates attending Anderson University were recently recognized with awards for displaying the school’s core value of excellence for the 2017-2018 school year. Gabrielle Guerra, Greenfield, received the J. Douglas Nelson Award as the student most exemplifying the Anderson University core values, selected by the members of AU Model United Nations. She is a senior and will graduate this spring with a bachelor of arts. Freshman Tyller Leath, Fortville, received the First Year Award for Engagement and Innovation, and $500 for a group project titled “Ravens, Let Your Dreams Soar,” to create more career/internship training opportunities for AU freshmen and sophomores. Anderson University is a private, liberal arts institution in Anderson, Indiana with a mission to educate students for lives of faith and service in the church and society.

Senior accepted into Purdue’s master’s program

GREENVILLE, SOUTH CAROLINA — Nathanael Johnson, a senior at Bob Jones University pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication, was accepted into the master’s degree program in interpersonal communication at Purdue University in West Lafayette. Johnson is a resident of Greenfield.

Students earn diplomas through career center

NEW CASTLE — Local high school students recently earned diplomas from Ivy Tech through the New Castle Career Center. Logan Francis and Jackson Smith from Eastern Hancock High School earned a certificate in welding and machine trades; Tatum Profitt from Eastern Hancock High School earned a technical certificate.
