Day of Prayer service slated at courthouse

GREENFIELD — Greater Greenfield Ministerial Association plans a public National Day of Prayer service for noon May 3 on the Hancock County Courthouse Plaza.

Local pastors and other community members will offer prayers for various facets of society, such as business or healthcare.

Men’s group to serve chicken and noodles

GREENFIELD — The United Methodist Men will serve a chicken noodle supper from 4 to 7 p.m. May 19 at Amity United Methodist Church, 6042 W. County Road 100N. Donations will be accepted, with proceeds going toward men’s mission projects.

Raintree Children’s Choir plans concert

KNIGHTSTOWN — The Raintree Children’s Choir, under the direction of Judy Hubbard, will present its spring concert at 2 p.m. Sunday at Bethel Presbyterian Church, 112 S. Franklin St.

The concert is part of the Bethel Arts Series of the church and is open to the public.

Willow Branch church Spring Dinner slated

WILLOW BRANCH — Willow Branch United Methodist Church will serve its Spring Dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday (April 28) at the church, 6244 N. Thomas St.

Donations will be accepted, with proceeds going to local missions.

McCordsville rummage sale coming

McCORDSVILLE — McCordsville United Methodist Church will have a rummage sale Friday and May 5.

The sale runs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 5 at the church, 6247 W. Broadway.

Fish fry meal coming to Methodist church

GREENFIELD — Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church, 3447 S. State Road 9, will serve the annual fish fry from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 19.

The menu will include fried fish, french fries, hush puppies, baked beans, slaw, desserts and beverages. Hot dogs and carry-out also will be available.

Donations will be accepted, with proceeds used for missions and special projects.

Scholarship forms due Tuesday

NEW PALESTINE — New Palestine Fellowship of Churches will give a $500 scholarship to a graduating high school senior who attends or is a member or constituent of one of the churches affiliated with the Fellowship of Churches.

Churches in the group are Community Christian Church, Cross of Grace Lutheran Church, New Palestine Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), New Palestine United Church/His Place on East Main Street and New Palestine United Methodist Church on Gem Road.

Selection criteria will include participation in church activities, community involvement and scholarship, as well as special emphasis on a statement of how faith affects the student’s daily life.

Applications may be picked up from a student’s minister or from that church’s office. Applications also are available at New Palestine High School. Applicants do not have to attend the school.

Each candidate must be enrolled in an accredited college or university and show evidence of enrollment.

Application deadline is May 1. Turn in applications to one’s minister or church office or to the guidance department at New Palestine High School.
