Margaret Elizabeth Scott, 97, Greenfield, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 15, at home. Born June 3, 1920, in Mohawk, she was the daughter of Orville and Lydia (Keaton) Nigh.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother James Wesley Nigh (in adolescence), husband Rollin C. Scott and grandson Jason D. Scott.

Survivors include sons David C. (Beth) Scott and James W. Scott, both of Greenfield, great-granddaughter Peyton L. Scott of McCordsville and step-grandchildren Abby (Zach) Brubaker of Wichita, Kan., and Alex Ray of Bloomington.

Although spending much of her life as a wife, mother and homemaker, Mrs. Scott worked at the Naval Ordinance defense plant in Indianapolis during WWII, contributing to the manufacture of the Norden Bombsight. After the war, she worked in the music and fine china departments of L.S. Ayres & Co. in downtown Indianapolis.

Mrs. Scott had a remarkable singing voice, but despite opportunities, chose not to pursue it professionally.

She was an animal lover and long-time supporter of the Hancock County Humane Society.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 19, 2018, at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, 1780 W. Main St, Greenfield, IN 46140. Additional visitation will be 1 hour prior to the funeral service at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 20, 2018, also at the funeral home.
