Frank Eugene “Gene” Larrabee, 89, of Pflugerville, Texas, formerly of Shelbyville, passed away Sunday, February 25, 2018 at Spanish Oak in Pflugerville.

He was born August 3, 1928, in Shelby County, the son of Ray and Louise (Stotler) Wolf. On June 3, 1951, he married his beloved wife of 66 years, Betty Ann Cole, and she preceded him in death on January 28, 2018.

Gene is survived by son, Harry R. Larrabee and wife, Betsy, of San Marcos, Texas; daughters, Leann Ballard and husband, Dan, of Hutto, Texas, and Donna Hooper and husband, Scott, of Nashville, Tennessee; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Millie Jean Boring and husband, Jan, of Northville, Michigan, and Wanda Cole of Greenfield; and step-sister, Rebecca Wolf.

In addition to Betty Ann, Gene was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Harry S. Larrabee.

Gene graduated from Morristown High School in 1947 and attended Butler University.

He retired from Richardson Rubber Company as a foreman.

Gene enjoyed golfing, handyman projects, playing cards, raquet/paddle sports, basketball and traveling. He, just like Betty Ann, loved spending time with his kids and family members.

He and Betty Ann spent 30 years in New Braunfels, Texas.

A gathering of friends and family will be 11 a.m. to noon, Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.

A memorial service will follow at noon at the funeral home, with Rev. Bill Horner officiating.

Gene’s life will be celebrated in the fellowship hall of the First Christian Church after the memorial service.

Private inurnment will be at Greenfield Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
