CHARLOTTESVILLE — More than 80 students at Eastern Hancock Elementary recently participated in the school-wide Science and Engineering Fair.

A 10-member team, including Allen Bridges from Elanco Animal Health, retired engineers Rick and Liz Weber, and Bob Hunt from Eli Lilly served as judges for the local competition. The judges scored the students based on the steps of the scientific method and interviewed the students about their projects.

The top three winners in each grade level — from kindergarten through sixth grade — advanced from the school level to participate in the Central Indiana Regional Science and Engineering Fair at Marian University in Indianapolis on Feb. 24.

No Eastern Hancock students won at the regional level, but students and school sponsors learned a lot and look forward to next year’s event, leaders said.
