Learn how to plant for birds, bees at library event

GREENFIELD — As part of the Hancock County Library’s Green Thumb Project, “Hoosier Gardener” columnist Jo Ellen Meyers Sharp will present the program “Planting for the Birds & the Bees” from 9:30 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Hancock County Public Library, 900 W. McKenzie Road. The event, sponsored by the Purdue Extension Master Gardener Program, includes a book signing, information booths, refreshments and door prizes. Register to attend at hcplibrary.org.

Vawter Art Exhibition calls for Hoosier artist entries

GREENFIELD — The Hancock County Arts Council invites Hoosier artists to participate in the 2018 Will Vawter Art Exhibition. Entry is open to Indiana artists only for work in oil, acrylic and watercolor. The entry fee is $40 per artist for up to three entries. Hancock County Arts Council members receive a $10 discount. Registrations must be postmarked by March 24. Awards range from $100 to $1,000. Hometown Comics event offers special effects skills

GREENFIELD — As the third in a series of Costume and Creation classes, Hometown Comics, 1506 N. State St., a special effects make-up workshop will teach attendees how to create “cut wounds” — old or new, shallow or deep. This free class meets from 4 to 4:30 p.m. March 18.
