GREENFIELD — Children in the AWANA program meeting at Brandywine Community Church raced wooden cars in the annual AWANA Derby on Feb. 3 at the church.
Children raced according to age group: Cubbies, 3 years old to kindergarten; Sparks, Grades K through 2; and T&T, Grades 3 through 6. Trophies were awarded for first, second and third places in each age group race and for the top three overall placers in design. Every racer received a participation ribbon.
The three age-group winners raced to determine a grand prize winner. Then an adult/open race closed the event, with competitors vying for a traveling piston trophy.
