GREENFIELD
Etha Sue (Loyd) Smith, age 85, of Greenfield, passed away on Monday, February 26, 2018 at Hancock Regional Hospital. She was born on June 24, 1932 in Cullman, AL as the daughter of Thurman Ernest and Leona Frances (Herndon) Loyd. She graduated from Hanceville High School in 1950 in Hanceville, AL. Etha married Dock Ray Smith on December 2, 1949 in Hattiesburg, MS.
She worked for Eli Lilly for many years before retiring in 2000 and was also a homemaker. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and past member of Greenfield Lions Club. Etha enjoyed decorating cakes and working in her yard. She also loved spending time with her family.
Etha is survived by her children, Gary L. Smith of Greenfield, Susan Kay (Charles) Stewart of Indianapolis, Karen (James) Shoultz of Fountaintown, and Kelly D. Smith of Greenfield; brother, Herald Loyd of Chattanooga, TN; sisters, Ellen Harris of Chattanooga, TN and June Butts of Hanceville, AL; 8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Lori Harsin; son, Jeff Smith; sisters, Anna Merle Garrison and Mildred Morgan.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 2, 2018, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 3, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at the mortuary with viewing one hour prior to the service. Pastor Roger Kinion will be officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
