Marty Lee Sparks, 57, of New Castle, passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2018. He was born on March 28, 1960 in Wilkes County, North Carolina as the son of Roy Lee and Shirley Eleanor (Myers) Sparks.

He graduated from Eastern Hancock High School in 1978. Marty married Andrea “Andy” (Phillips) on June 30, 1979 in Fortville.

He worked for the State of Indiana as a lighting supervisor for 28 years and most recently Greenfield Central High School – Hancock Madison Joint Services for four years. Marty was a member of Christ Fellowship-Knightstown and was a youth group leader for a time. He was the head cook for Harvest Christian Camp in Lewisville for many years. Church was more than just a membership, it was a part of who he was. Marty enjoyed hunting, fishing, painting and collecting guns. He loved Alabama football and was an avid reader and World War II history buff. He was an amazing cook and was known for his BBQ. Marty was a man of many words and full of random info. He was faithful and loyal to everyone. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and his friends were his family.

Marty is survived by his wife, Andy Sparks; children, Amanda (Joe) Gossage, Andrew (Hope) Sparks, and Amy (Charlie) Young; parents, Roy and Shirley (Myers) Sparks of North Carolina; seven grandchildren, Dallys, Dylan and Donovan Barnes, Grace, Ruthie and Patton Sparks, and Bryar Young; brothers, Greg (Susan) Sparks and Shawn (Tami) Sparks of North Carolina; nephews, Clayton and Harrison Sparks of North Carolina; and niece, Brooke (Robert) Sparks of Indianapolis. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and uncle.

A gathering will be held on Wednesday, February 28, 2018, from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Christ Fellowship-Knightstown, 4833 S. St. Rd. 109, Knightstown, IN 46148. A celebration of life service will take place on Thursday, March 1, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. also at the church. Pastor Bill Roberts and Pastor David Todd will be officiating.
