Beverly June Dillback (Held, Poynter), 61, passed away peacefully Thursday, Feb. 22, 2018, at Hancock Regional Hospital after a 3-year battle with metastatic breast cancer. Beverly was born May 3, 1956, in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Beverly, a 1975 Lawrence Central High School graduate, built a career in sales and marketing for the Daily Reporter (Greenfield), Roberts Glass & Service (Indianapolis), Faerber’s Bee Window, Inc. (Indianapolis), and Capitol Building Supply, Inc. (Indianapolis).

Beverly was a kind soul with a tenacious spirit. She was a loving mother and a doting grandmother. Her granddaughter bestowed her with the name “Grams,” which was later adopted by all who knew her because of the way she embraced those around her with a genuine heart and an inviting disposition.

Beverly is survived by her daughter, Nicole (Held) Scurlock; son, Louis Held IV; son-in-law, George Scurlock; granddaughter, Daija Scurlock; siblings, Peter Poynter, Debra (Poynter) Shields, Paula (Poynter) Shannon, Daniel Poynter, Pamela Poynter, Jeffrey Poynter, Christopher Poynter and her beloved dogs, Caesar and Sadie.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Hallie Marcella Poynter and father, Melvin Douglas Poynter.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Saturday March 3, 2018, at 4pm for a memorial service beginning at 4:30pm at Cornerstone Baptist Church 10701 E 56th St, Indianapolis, IN 46235. A celebration of life gathering will take place at the VFW (Post 2693) 529 Apple St, Greenfield, IN 46140 beginning at 6:30pm. Food will be generously provided by the VFW.

Flowers can be delivered to Cornerstone Baptist Church on Friday March 2, 2018.
