Book sale to benefit library planned

GREENFIELD — The Friends of the Hancock County Public Library will conduct its gently-used book sale from Thursday to Monday, March 1 to 5, at the Greenfield location. The Friends also offer audio books, DVDs and CDs.

On Thursday, March 1, from 6 to 8:30 p.m., Friends shop their members-only preview sale. Walk-ins can join the organization at a cost of $15 and shop the preview that night. Pick up a membership form across from the library circulation desk.

The sale opens to the public 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Friday, March 2; 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, March 3; and 1 to 3:45 p.m. Sunday, March 4. Most hardbacks cost only a dollar, and paperbacks cost 50 cents. Children’s books are 50 cents and 25 cents. DVDs, CDs and audio books are only $1.

Bargain day is 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, March 5. A standard paper grocery bag full of books sells for $3, a plastic grocery bag for $2.

Proceeds fund free concerts and children’s special events. The next donation date is from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, March 19.
