Lowell D. French, 84, of Carthage and a lifelong Rush County resident, passed away February 20, 2018 in Indianapolis. Lowell was born September 3, 1933 in Rush County to Elmer & Mae (Parker) French.

He was a 1951 graduate of Raleigh School and later obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in business from Purdue University. He married Marlene Mohler on November 11, 1950 and she survives.

Lowell worked for over 60 years in the insurance business. He owned & operated French Insurance Agency for 48 of those years. He was a longtime member and elder of the Raleigh Christian Church.

Lowell belonged to the Independent Insurance Agency of Indiana and was a member of the PIA. He loved to travel and go camping with his family. Lowell also enjoyed mowing the yard and enjoyed being outdoors!

In addition to his wife, Marlene, of Carthage, Lowell is survived by his daughters, Pamela Lovegrove of New Castle, Cheryl (Douglas) Wright and Angela (Eric) Mullen all of Carthage, a sister, Janet (Ronald) Sullivan of Carthage, grandchildren, Jason Hubbell, Amanda (Jeff) Aldridge, Daniel (Kara) Wright, Jacob Wright, Benjamin (Ashlee) Wright, Jordan, Zachary, Cara & Laura Mullen, great grandchildren, Dalton Hubbell, Alayna & Bethany Aldridge and Caleb, Declan, Noah and Avery Wright. Lowell is also survived by several nieces & nephews and his beloved dog, Precious. Lowell was preceded in death by a brother, Robert French and a sister, Judy Sutton.

Services will be held at 11 AM Monday, February 26, 2018 in the Raleigh Christian Church with Tony Augsberger presiding. Friends are welcome to visit from 2-6 PM Sunday, February 25 at Moster Mortuary in Rushville. Burial will be in the Raleigh Cemetery.
