GREENFIELD – “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle,” starring Jack Black, Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart, offers a nice update from the original 1995 film that featured Jumanji the board game. This December 2017 update introduces a video game that transports four high school students into the game and into the bodies of the avatars they selected for game play. The misadventures are predictable, but the humor comes from the students dealing with their new physical forms and skills, in particular Jack Black as cartographer Shelley Oberon (formerly Bethany, high school diva.) Video gamers will enjoy the game framework throughout the plot: three lives for each character, interactions with the non-player characters and the avatars using their skills and strengths. “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle,” is showing now at Legacy 9, 2347 W. Main St. The movie is rated PG-13. Visit legacycinema.com for more information.
