FOOD SAFETY

The Hancock County Health Department inspects restaurants four times annually and violations are determined as “C” for critical, “NC” for noncritical and “R” for repeated violations. The following inspections are based on information obtained from Retail Food Inspection Reports.

Jan. 18

Hardee’s

Location: 1215 W. Main St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations: NC — clean floor in area by fryer under shelf, to be corrected by April 1.

Violations: C/R — no sanitizing in sanitizing solution in three-compartment sink, corrected; NC — self-service cups should be present for customers in a protected manner, to be corrected by April 1.

Violations: C/R — expired milk and Lunchables, corrected; NC — need to repair wall by three-compartment sink and above mop sink, to be corrected by April 1; NC — need to install hand sink in back by employee restroom, three-compartment sink should not be used for hand-washing sink, to be corrected by April 1.

Family Fun and Fitness

Location: 5151 U.S. Highway 40 W., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations: hand sink in kitchen area has leak in drain line, to be corrected by Jan. 24.

Papa John’s

Location: 1001 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations: C — hand sink blocked in rear food prep area, corrected; C — unmarked chemical bottle foot, corrected/discarded; NC — need to have thermometer in refrigeration unit holding dressing for salad, to be corrected by March 1.

Burger King

Location: 2706 N. County Road 600W, Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations: NC — need thermometers in all refrigeration units/replace broken thermometers, to be corrected by April 1; NC/R — clean door and handles of freezer, clean floors under equipment, fryers, make table, three- compartment sink, etc., to be corrected by April 1.

Wendy’s

Location: 2809 N. County Road 600W, Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations: NC/R — need thermometers in all refrigeration units that contain potentially hazardous foods (meats, cheese, etc.), to be corrected by April 1; NC — gloves are for single use tasks, must be changed when changing tasks, corrected; NC — water at hand washing stations is only 57 degrees for hot water, needs to be at least 100 degrees, to be corrected by April 1.

Fortville Broadway Diner

Location: 426 E. Broadway St., Fortville

Violations: C — equipment/utensils stored above breading station need to be clean to sight and touch, corrected; NC — protect raw chicken by covering and preventing contact with containers, corrected; NC/R — clean handles of all equipment, clean floor behind griddle to remove grease build-up, to be corrected by April 1.
