Rosalie A. Quakenbush, 89, of Greenfield passed away on Thursday February 1, 2018 at Hancock Regional Hospital. She was born on May 10, 1928 to the late A.P. and Myrtle (Tolle) Swem in Forest, Indiana.

Rosalie married the love of her life Donnell on July 1, 1947, and were married for nearly 50 years until his passing.

Rosie worked in the cafeteria for Mt. Vernon schools for many years. She was a member of Cyntheanne and West Point Christian Churches. She was also a member of the Greenfield Moose & Elks Lodge, Fortville American Legion and V.F.W. as well as the Eden Eastern Star.

In the 1970’s Rosalie admired Emmett the Clown and attended Barnum & Bailey Circus. During this time she was able to go back stage and meet Emmett and she found her passion. At this time, Rosie the Clown was born. She spent many hours and days in parades and at other festivals sharing this love and brightening the days of others.

Left to cherish Rosalie’s memory are; daughter, Marcia (George) Penry; son Aaron (Barb) Quakenbush; Brother Mac Swem; 6 Grandchildren and 9 Great-Grandchildren.

Rosalie is preceeded in death by her parents, her husband, Donnell, 1 son, brother and sister; and 1 great-grandchild.

Friends may call 4 – 7 pm, Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, 1780 W. Main St. Greenfield, IN 46140. Funeral service will be 10:00 am, Wednesday February 7, 2018. Burial will follow at 1:30PM at St. Paul Cemetery in Forest, Indiana.

Memorial Contributions in Rosalies’ memory can be made to either the Cyntheanne Christian Church or West Point Christian Church.
