Free football camp offered by Mt. Vernon
Mt. Vernon football coach Mike Kirschner will be conducting a free camp beginning Feb. 12 for linemen and skill positions.
The camp will include four sessions and will be at the Mt. Vernon Performance Enhancement Center on Feb. 12, 26 and March 5, and inside the Mt. Vernon High School main gym Feb. 20.
Linemen will train from 6 to 7 p.m. on each of the four days. Skill position players will train from 7 to 8 p.m.
The camp is open to students in kindergarten through 11th grade. Participants must wear gym clothes and athletic shoes.

Pacers’ Sabonis to compete in challenge
INDIANAPOLIS — Second-year forward Domantas Sabonis of the Indiana Pacers was named as a participant in the Rising Stars Challenge the Friday night during NBA All-Star Weekend, Feb. 16 to 18 in Los Angeles.
Sabonis is the Pacers’ leading rebounder this season at 8.4 rebounds per game and is averaging 12.3 points per game. He has played in 45 of the Pacers’ 47 games this season, with 15 starts.
The game will feature first- and second-year NBA players from the United States against first- and second-year NBA players from around the world. Players are selected by a vote of the league’s assistant coaches. The game will be televised nationally by TNT at 9 p.m.
