INDIANAPOLIS — The Greenfield-Central Cougars had the opportunity to play Friday night at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in downtown Indianapolis. Unfortunately, the night did not end in victory for the Cougars as they fell to Pendleton Heights 62-51.

For 26 minutes of the game, the Cougars played the Arabians evenly and even outplayed them for stretches. Unfortunately, for a six-minute stretch in the second quarter behind three three-point plays, Arabians guard Eli Pancol fueled the Arabians to a 20-0 run to take a 30-11 lead that they would not relinquish.

Pancol finished the night with 21 points and eight rebounds.

Despite a 16-point halftime deficit, the Cougars came out composed in the second half behind Matt Turner and Will O’Connor. After an O’Connor four-point play, the lead was down to eight points.

The lead would hover around that point for the rest of the game, however, as the Cougars were unable to complete the comeback.

O’Connor finished the night with 16 points and six rebounds, while Turner finished with 19 points and six boards.

The loss drops Greenfield-Central to 4-10 overall and 1-5 in the Hoosier Heritage Conference. They next take the court tonight as they host Bedford North Lawrence for a 7:30 p.m. tipoff.
