The Hancock County Health Department inspects restaurants four times annually and violations are determined as “C” for critical, “NC” for noncritical and “R” for repeated violations. The following inspections are based on information obtained from Retail Food Inspection Reports.

Nov. 20

Hancock County Food Pantry

Location: 741½ S. State Road 9, Greenfield

Type of inspection: Routine

Wendy’s

Location: 1508 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of inspection: Routine

Violations found: C/R — cook handling raw meat should not touch white-handled spatula or chicken tongs before washing hands, cook must wash hands after eating and before returning to work/handling utensils, corrected; C/R — raw meat at 57 degrees in meat cooler by grill, blue cheese and shredded cheese on line too warm, to be corrected by Nov. 20; C — wash and sanitize raw chicken tongs and container every four hours when in use, wash and sanitize cutting board and cutter for chicken and shaker at grill every four hours when in use, to be corrected by Nov. 20; NC — use sanitizing solution test strips to confirm concentration, to be corrected by Nov. 20; NC — cannot use three-compartment sink for hand-washing, to be corrected by Nov. 20; NC — hand sink in prep area has water temperature of 86 degrees, must be at least 100 degrees, to be corrected by Feb. 1; NC — no paper towels at hand sink, corrected; NC — repair broken tiles and coving in pressure fryer area, to be corrected by Feb. 1; NC/R — clean floors under all equipment, three-compartment sink, rack wheels, interior of sandwich prep cooler and pressure fryer area, to be corrected by Feb. 1.

Location: 1505 N. State St., Greenfield

Violations found: C/R — employee did not wash hands before putting on gloves, employee observed washing hands but not using soap and paper towel, employee observed using food handling gloves to cut raw chicken and then touching fryer handle and refrigerator handle, employee observed putting on gloves in sushi area then touching refrigerator handle and then beginning to prepare sushi, corrected, employee training scheduled; NC — no soap at hand-washing sinks in kitchen, corrected; NC/R — no paper towels at hand-washing sink in kitchen, corrected; NC/R — need to clean equipment and floors under/by equipment where debris has accumulated, to be corrected by Feb. 1.

Nov. 21

McDonald’s

Location: 1490 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of inspection: Routine

Violations found: C/R — incomplete health policy, corrected; C — sanitizing solution in sani buckets testing at low concentration, corrected; C — spoons and storage container for cleaning spoons at latte machine must be clean to sight and touch, corrected; NC/R — hand sink in women’s restroom needs water that temps at least 100 degrees, to be corrected by Feb. 1; NC — clean grates above griddles, griddles, floor/corners, floor area outside of walk-in cooler, to be corrected by Feb. 1.

Ro’s Bar and Grill

Location: 1514 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of inspection: Routine

Violations found: C — must date-mark in-house made tartar sauce and cannot exceed seven days, corrected; C/R — hand sink blocked, corrected; NC/R — must protect/store ice scoop in protected manner, corrected; NC — need sanitizing test strips for both chemical used for sanitizing accessible and used, to be corrected by Dec. 1; NC — exterior door has hole/gap, to be corrected by Feb. 1.

Violations found: C – pasta salad in cooler by salad bar did not have date, corrected; C – working containers (spray bottles) with chemical need to be labeled with common name, corrected; NC – continue to clean floors and equipment legs where build-up is present, to be corrected by Feb. 1.
