INDIANAPOLIS
Wendell Dwain Hurst, 88, of Indianapolis, passed away Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Rosegate Village in Indianapolis. Born February 4, 1929 in Shelby County, he was the son of Robert E. Hurst and Florence A. (Briley) Hurst.
He married D. Joyce (Darland) Hurst on April 10, 1953 and she survives.
Other survivors include children, ConnieJo Harris and husband Jeff, Ron Dwain Hurst and wife Debbie, Wendi C. Hurst and husband Larry; brother Doyle Hurst and wife Doris; brother-in-law Duane Lemmons; caregiver Brittany Hart; four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister Marlyn Lemmons.
Mr. Hurst was a lifetime resident of this area, and graduated from Waldron High School in 1947. He had been a bus driver for Shelby Central Schools for 41 years, and a lifelong self-employed farmer. He was a member of Christian Biblical Church of God, and was a US Army veteran.
Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Saturday, January 13, 2018, at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, with visitation there Saturday from 11:00 am until the time of the service. Rev. Harvey Weaver will officiate, and burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. A graveside military service will be conducted by a local veterans organization.
