GREENFIELD
Jacob Lee Root, 16, born June 5, 2001, beloved son of Shawn De Leigh (Hager) Root and Michael David (Laura) Root and much-loved brother of Ethan Earl Hager passed away on Wednesday, January 3, 2018.
He is survived by his grandparents, Joseph Earl and Peggy L. Hager of Greenfield and Sharon Root of Keys, CA; Uncle Brent J. Hager (Kristi Dinges) and his children, Kylie M., Alex J., Logan B., and Cohen M. Hager (Molly and Elly Dinges); Uncle Tony (Julie) Hager and children, Aunt Sheilah K. Hager and children, Aunt Anita Marie Montez and children, and Uncle Eugene Scott Root and children; and numerous other aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Michael Ray Root.
Jacob was a student at Greenfield Central High School and a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church. Jacob had many talents. He was an expert with the Yo-yo, interested in origami, Star Wars and Pokemon. He enjoyed telling silly and stupid jokes. Jacob loved music. He played the saxophone in Jr. High band and was self-taught to play the piano, guitar, bass guitar, and drums. He talked of being in the music industry in some way.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 7, 2018, from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 8, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at the mortuary. Pastor Dave Wise and Pastor John Reading will be officiating.
