Mildred E. Parks, 100, passed away Monday, December 25, 2017 at Springhurst Health Campus. She was born November 9, 1917 in Indianapolis and was the only child of the late Herbert and Alice (Kline) Haag.

Mildred attended and graduated from School 84 and later Shortridge High School. During the holidays she played the xylophone in the hallways and played in the marimba band and sang in the Glee Club at Shortridge. Mildred received her B.A. degree in 1939 from Butler University where she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority. Mildred was one of the first employees of Trans World Airlines. She took ticket orders and even delivered tickets once purchased. Mildred was a devoted housewife and mother. She enjoyed baking, knitting infant blankets for all new babies at Hancock Memorial Hospital, Bridge and Majong. Upon her death Mildred was the sole survivor of the old generation L.E. and J.A. Haag, Founders of the Haag Drug Stores that were sold in 1932 but carried the Haag name for the next 75 years.

She is survived by her children; Gene Burns of Shelbyville, Richard Burns of Indianapolis, Don Parks and Kathleen Stayton both of Greenfield and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mildred is preceded in death by her husband J.B. Parks, son; Michael Parks, daughter Linda Parks, granddaughter Jamie Stayton and grandson Robert Burns.

Funeral service will be 11 am, Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Stillinger Family Funeral Home with Deacon Wayne Davis officiating. Friends may call 9:30 am until the time of service. Burial immediately following at Washington Park East Cemetery, Indianapolis.
