Evelyn J. Hammond, 91, of New Castle, went to her heavenly home Monday, December 25, 2017 in Greenfield. Evelyn was born July 5, 1926, the daughter of the late Fred and Thelma (Miller) Hollingsworth.

She graduated from Pike Township High School and was retired from Henry County Court House, having worked for the Clerk’s Office and Voters Registration. She was a member of North Side Church of God in New Castle and formerly attended Faith Chapel in Knightstown. She was a member of Henry County Extension Homemakers for 28 years. She enjoyed her family above all and was an avid follower of New Castle Trojan basketball, IU, Butler and UCLA.

Survivors include her daughters, Marsha (Mike) Richey, Linda (Jerry) Jordon, Sally (Terry) Molden, and Betsy (Ron) Willis all of the Shirley/Wilkinson area; daughter-in-law, Judy Harvey of Chester VA; a sister, Lucille Jarvis of Indianapolis and a brother, Dale (Beverly) Hollingsworth of Westfield; grandsons, D.J. (Britt) Jordon of Eagle, NE, Joseph (Amanda) Harvey of Chesterfield, VA, Dru Richey (Samanatha Guzman) of Shirley, Jon (Heather) Jordon of Shirley, Brandon (Rachel) Kleine of Morristown, Ryan (Carey)Willis of Shirley, Josh (Amy) Willis of Wilkinson; granddaughters, Dionne Fields of Greenfield and Angela (Donnie) Gorman of Chester, VA; twenty one great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Hammond; a son, Stephen Harvey; stepmother, Opal (Smith) Hollingsworth; stepson, Michael Hammond and great granddaughter, Rhea Kleine.

Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Rev. Randy Gross officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Private burial will be in South Mound Cemetery at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Macular Degeneration Foundation or North Side Church of God with envelopes available at the funeral home.
