GREENFIELD – One local Girl Scout’s capstone project is moving forward with the help of local businesses.

Frances LaBore, 17, is working to earn her Girl Scout Gold Award by building two museum-quality display cases for the Hancock County Historical Society. The Gold Award is the highest honor for a Girl Scout Senior, and LaBore has been planning the project for about a year. The project aims to better preserve the society’s artifacts.

Kline Cabinets donated the wood and labor for the project and has begun construction. Because of the donation, the cost of the project was lowered significantly, LaBore said. In addition, the glass for the cases was purchased from Greenfield Glass at a discounted price.
