GREENFIELD
Frank J. Walsh, 90 of Greenfield, IN, passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2017 at Greenfield Healthcare Center. He was born on July 15, 1927 in Chicago, IL to the late Francis and Jeanette (Grogan) Walsh.
Frank graduated from St. Leo High School in Chicago and attended Loyola University. He married the love of his life, Barbara Sanford on August 23, 1952. Francis was a U.S. Navy Veteran, serving during WWII and the Korean War. He was a self-employed food broker for most of his life before going to work for Indy Food Specialists, where he retired at the age of eighty. He was a parishioner of St. Michael Catholic Church in Greenfield, an avid history buff, a Mt. Comfort Air Show enthusiast, and cherished time with his family. Frank enjoyed sports, being a former youth football and baseball coach. He loved Notre Dame Football, and in 2016 a life-long dream came true, as his beloved Chicago Cubs won the World Series.
Left to cherish Frank’s memory is his wife, Barbara; five sons, Frank (Barbara) Walsh Jr.; James (Hidemi) Walsh; Thomas (Brianna) Walsh; Michael (Elizabeth) Walsh; William (Misty) Walsh; five daughters, Jeanette (Mark) Shively; Kathleen Free; Margaret (Rich Phelan) Walsh; Mary Grace Theodore; Barbara (Clay) Brown; grandchildren, Amy; James; Joe; Bryan; Megan; Kristin; Maggie; Evan; Ciara; Kyla; Bridget; Sloane; Kieran; Dylan; Liam; 5 great-grandchildren, Abigail; Carter; Stella; Connor; and Brody.
Frank is preceded in death by his parents; two son-in-laws, Dr. Stephen Free and Peter Theodore.
Visitation for Frank will be held from 4:00pm to 8:00pm on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel of Greenfield, 1780 W. Main St, Greenfield, IN 46140. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00am on Friday, December 29, 2017 at St. Michael Catholic Church, 519 Jefferson Blvd, Greenfield, IN 46140 with Fr. Aaron Jenkins presiding. Burial with military honors will immediately follow Mass at Park Cemetery in Greenfield, 621 S. State St, Greenfield, IN 46140.
