Lawrence H. “Larry” Holdorf, Sr, 90, of Fortville passed away Monday, December 18, 2017 at Hendricks Regional Hospital. He was born December 27, 1927 in Kiel, WI to Erwin G. and Johannah (Streckert) Holdorf.

Larry grew up working the family farm in Wisconsin, had built silos, worked in sales for Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. and finally retired from J.A. Sexauer Plumbing and Heating as a regional sales manager. He was also a U.S. Army Ranger having served his country in Korea.

Larry was a devoted Christian and helped plant several churches in central Indiana including Northside Christian Church and Mt. Pleasant Christian Church. He was currently attending Geist Christian Church. Larry had also been a Boy Scout Troop Leader and a member of the Minneapolis Moline Tractor Association.

Larry is survived by his wife of over 63 years, Julia (McMasters) Holdorf: children: Lawrence H. (Debra) Holdorf, Jr., Bonnie L. Holdorf, Cheryl A. Holdorf, Debby (Doug) Johnson, Jeffrey D. (Jodi) Holdorf, Charles R. (Siriwan) Holdorf and Joseph e. (Marti) Holdorf; grandchildren: Dianna Holdorf, Johanna (Tim) Weller, Brian (Abbie) Holdorf, Lawrence (Allison) Holdorf, Jonathan (Samanatha) Holdorf, Peter Holdorf, Gus Holdorf and Deetz Holdorf; great-granchildren: Everett Weller, Noah and Elizabeth Holdorf; brother: Lowell (Yvonne) Holdorf; three nephews and several great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Gordon Holdorf and sister Eunice Holdorf.

Friends may call on Friday, December 29, 2017 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at Seals Funeral Home, Fortville. A celebration of Larry’s life will take place on Friday, December 29, 2017 at 2:30 pm at Gravel Lawn Cemetery Chapel, Fortville. Burial with military rites will take place immediately following the service.
