Enjoy a Technicolor Christmas

CARMEL — “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” re-imagines of the biblical story of Joseph, who was sold into Egyptian slavery by his 11 brothers, but who found favor in the Egyptian court for his ability to interpret dreams. The Elvis-style Pharaoh makes Joseph his right-hand man, which is where he is when his father Jacob comes to find him. Hancock County resident Parrish Williams plays Reuben, one of Joseph’s brothers. “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat” opens Friday at the Booth Tarkington Civic Theatre, 3 Center Green, and runs through Jan. 7. Waltons’ story told in play

WESTFIELD — The Westfield Playhouse, 1836 W. State Road 32, presents “The Homecoming: the Waltons’ Christmas Story” through Dec. 17. Directed by New Palestine resident Sam Brown, “The Homecoming” was originally the pilot for “The Waltons” television show, which ran from 1971 through 1981 and features the saga of John-Boy Walton looking for his father in a snow storm on Christmas Eve. Show times are 7:30 p.m. Dec. 15 and 16 and 2:30 p.m. Dec. 17. Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for students and seniors and free for active military and veterans with ID. Classic gets radio twist

INDIANAPOLIS — A Christmas classic becomes a live radio play with “It’s a Wonderful Life: a Live Radio Play” runs through Dec. 17 on stage at the Buck Creek Playhouse, 11150 Southeastern Ave. Five actors perform the dozens of characters needed to present the broadcast along sound effects created at a live Foley table.
