Norman Ray LaRue, Sr, 82, of Fortville, passed away Monday, December 11, 2017 at his residence following a sudden illness. He was born August 27, 1935 in Alexandria, the son of Jacob Roe and Edna Mae (Chapman) LaRue.

On July 28, 1955 he married Mary Ann Davis and together they raised their family. He retired from Delco-Remy after 32 years of service. During his time there, he studied at Ivy Tech.

One of Norman’s greatest passions was bowling. From the time he was eleven, he bowled in various leagues and worked at numerous bowling alleys, doing everything from pin setting to General Manager. He also owned Pro Shops at different bowling alleys around Indianapolis. He competed in many Pro Bowling tournaments; eventually being inducted into the Bowling Hall of Fame.

In addition to his wife Mary Ann, he is survived by his sons and daughters, Norman, Jr (Ginger) LaRue, Andy LaRue, Sue (Richard Novak) LaRue and Jean (Crist Bolin) LaRue. Grandchildren, Kamessa and Cy LaRue; Lisa Potts; Tiffany, Heather, Nathan and Casey LaRue; R.E., Christopher and Nicholas Novak; Mary Kate (Ryan) Hughes; Michelle (Andy) Lehner; Michael and Steven Bolin. Great-grandchildren, Blair Kenedi and Brailynn LaRue; Mark Ashby, III; Walker Abercrombie; Neil and Nolan Lehner; brother, Earl LaRue; sisters, Ardella (Kenny) Mattox and Nelda (Mike) Adams.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Vernon LaRue; and brothers, John, Lewis and Bruce LaRue.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory – Lahm Chapel, 221 State St., Pendleton. Burial will follow immediately at Eden Cemetery.

Visitation will be 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, Norman always said that people should “save their money and pay some of their own bills”.
