GREENFIELD — The Greenfield Banking Co. is telling its customers to be wary of fake text messages some locals have received recently that appear to be coming from the company’s fraud center.

A handful of Greenfield Banking Co. customers reporting receiving text messages in the last week from unknown telephone number. The messages state the person’s credit or debit card has been flagged and instructs the recipient to call a phone number with a 317 area code immediately for more information.

Bank officials put a warning on the company’s Facebook page Tuesday telling customers to ignore the messages. They are not coming from the company’s fraud center, officials said.

Those who receive the text message should not call the number listed or give any personal information to the sender.
