The Hancock County Health Department inspects restaurants four times annually and violations are determined as “C” for critical, “NC” for noncritical and “R” for repeated violations. The following inspections are based on information obtained from Retail Food Inspection Reports.

Oct. 27

Daniel’s Vineyard

Location: 9061 N. County Road 700W, McCordsville

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations: NC — provide test strips for sanitizer in dish machine, hand sink in wine bar tasting area needs to be provided with paper towels, need to provide water of 100 degrees in women’s restroom hand sinks, to be corrected by Jan. 1.

Taxman Gastropub

Location: 29 S. Main St., Fortville

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations: C — soft cheese on counter in ice bath not cold enough on top layer, employee observed handling ready-to-eat food with bare hands, corrected.

Oct. 30

Long John Silver’s

Location: 2080 W. Main St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations: NC — ice scoop must be stored in a clean, protected manner, clean holder, corrected; NC — hand soap is not dispensing on line, to be corrected by Oct. 30.

McDonald’s

Location: 5122 U.S. 52 West, New Palestine

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations: NC– ice scoop at drive-thru must be stored in a clean, protected manner between uses, corrected; C — hand sinks must not be blocked or used to dispose of beverages, to be corrected by Nov. 1; NC — clean interiors and gaskets of drive-thru coolers, to be corrected by Jan. 1.
