INDIANAPOLIS
Roberta L. (Stroud) Hawkins, 92, of Indianapolis, passed away on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Community Heart Hospital. She was born on October 29, 1925 in Spillertown, IL as the daughter of William E. and Ida M. (Hayes) Stroud.
Roberta married Rollin J. Hawkins on December 3, 1949 in Indianapolis.
She worked in the cafeteria at Carmel Middle School for over 20 years. She was very devoted to her family and her greatest joy was spending time with each one of them.
Roberta is survived by her son, Rollin David Hawkins of Seattle, WA; daughters, Sheryl Denise (Kent Carpenter) Hawkins of Indianapolis and Suzanne Danita (Richard) Panyard of Greenfield; brother, Kenneth Stroud of Marion, IL; sisters, Betty and Joann; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Dixon and Patricia (Jack) Morton; grandchildren, Alicia (Craig) Relford, Kenneth (Brianna) Archey, Warren Archey III, William (Ariel) Archey, Theodore Archey, Carol (Mike) Strom. Chanda (Dave) Knowlton, Jamie Boelter and Tim Boelter; and great-grandchildren, Sydney and Malory Relford, Ragan Glockler, Elisabeth Strom, Emily Bradbury, Nick Bradbury and Alex Knowlton-Boelter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ida Stroud; husband, Rollin Hawkins; brothers, William Stroud Jr. and Jack Stroud; sister, Sadie Whitehead; sister-in-law, Phyllis Camp; and brother-in-law, Ray Hawkins Jr.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 14, 2017, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 15, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. at the mortuary. Richard Panyard will be officiating. Burial will follow at Fountaintown Cemetery in Fountaintown.
