ALLENTOWN, PA

Daniel P. Klase Sr., 83, of Allentown passed away in the Hospice Unit of Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest on Sunday December 3, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.

Daniel was the husband of Jacqueline P. “Jackie” (Yencik) Klase and they have been married for 61 years as of May 2017. Born in Allentown on September 8, 1934, he was the son of the late Harold P. and Marie (Pavlick) Klase.

Daniel was a longtime member of Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church where he served as an usher. He also served on committees for the school addition and the new church. He was a volunteer for many years for the parish carnival, and was a former assistant coach for the school’s CYO football program. Daniel was a 1952 graduate of Allentown Central Catholic High School.

After graduation he honorable served in the US Navy during the Korean conflict as an airplane mechanic on the aircraft carriers; USS Valley Forge, and USS Gilbert Islands. He was a member of the American Legion H.L. Peters Post #576 in Allentown. Daniel was a Human Resource manager for Black & Decker formerly General Electric in Allentown for 34 years prior to retiring in 1986.

Surviving with his wife, Jackie, is his son, Daniel P. Jr. and wife Jennifer of New Palestine, IN. Daughters, Suzanne M. (Brian) McCooley of Macungie, and MaryJane (William D.) Billowitch of Livermore, CA. Daniel has 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Eleanor Geiger.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday December 9, 2017 at 11:00 am in Our Lady Help of Christians. Calling will be on Saturday from 9:00-10:40 am in the O’Donnell Funeral Home Allentown.
