Holiday Bazaar will help fund playground

McCORDSVILLE — The Christmas Craft Bazaar is set for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 9 at McCordsville United Methodist Church, 6247 W. Broadway, McCordsville.

It will feature more than 30 vendors offering specialty goods for Christmas shopping. All vendor fees will go toward a new playground in memory of Matthew Clegg, a church member who died at the age of 7.

A soup-and-sandwich lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Cookie walk to benefit missions, draw Santa

NEW PALESTINE — New Palestine United Methodist Church’s annual cookie walk is set for 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Dec. 9 at the church, 3565 S. County Road 500W.

Homemade specialties will be available for $6 per pound. Hot beverages, holiday crafts and gifts also will be on sale.

Santa will attend from 9 to 11 a.m. Those who go are urged to take along cameras for free photos with Santa.

Money raised will support United Methodist Women missions that focus on women’s and children’s needs locally, nationally and internationally.

Bake sale to help child needing transplant

CUMBERLAND — A craft sale and bake sale fundraiser for Children’s Organ Transplant Association is set for 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 2 at Calvary Christian Fellowship, 79 S. County Road 700W, Cumberland.

The event is raising money to help with transplant-related expenses for 1-year-old Hudson Schrank, who has been diagnosed with End Stage Renal Disease, is on dialysis for 10 hours nightly and needs a kidney transplant. He lives in Greenfield, and his family attends the church.

Mt. Comfort plans holiday craft bazaar

MT. COMFORT — Mt. Comfort United Methodist Church’s sixth annual Holiday Bazaar is set for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. today at the church, 3179 N. Mt. Comfort Road (County Road 600W), Greenfield.

It will feature more than 50 artists, craftsman and home vendors. The event also includes a silent auction, luncheon and sweet shop.

Those who go are invited to bring a non-perishable food item for the local food pantry and/or new shoes for the Changing Footprints organization.

Gifts to Love INC will be matched

GREENFIELD — Gifts to Love in the Name of Christ of Greater Hancock County will be matched dollar for dollar up to $10,000 between now and Dec. 31.

Longtime local resident Robert Wortman is offering the match in honor of his mother, 107-year-old Velma Davis Wortman. She graduated in 1927 from Westland High School in Blue River Township. After college and graduate school, she became the first licensed librarian at Morristown High School in 1945, where she retired as an English teacher and librarian in 1977.

Over the last year, Love INC’s clearinghouse has received more than 822 calls from residents, resulting in 1,002 people’s needs being met. Donations will help Love INC continue to address the needs of fellow county residents needing help.
